Since its establishment in 2015, Lithuania’s Baltic Assist has grown into a reputable outsourcing and business support company, providing finance, accounting, HR, and administrative services to international clients. Recently, it introduced a Tax Services Branch, which took off, demonstrating the timely and visionary decision by the company's founder and CEO, Andzej Rynkevic and the leadership of Edgaras Dzekciorius, Head of the Tax Department at Baltic Assist.
A new trend was spotted
“We have spotted a trend: our clients are scaling beyond their home countries, and they usually face the challenge of establishing operations in a foreign country, where, in most cases, the legal and tax procedures are very different from those in their home country. As an established and reputable accounting and finance provider, we identified the opportunity, strengthening our brand and enhancing our value proposition to clients by advising on and handling their tax matters across different EU countries,” A.Rynkevic explained to The Baltic Times Magazine. “Tax service has become a highly valued addition to our financial services,” he added.
Agreeing, E. Dzekciorius, told The Baltic Times Magazine that the Tax Services Branch, set up in 2024, has developed “very strongly.”
“As of January, this year, the department reached its break-even point and is now operating profitably, enabling further investment and team expansion. Within a year, we built a fully functioning tax service line and are already seeing a steady increase in client demand,” E. Dzekciorius accentuated.
The team includes experienced tax advisors with Big4 backgrounds from EY, Deloitte, and KPMG and works closely with the Financial Accounting Department across VAT, CIT, payroll, and other tax matters in multiple jurisdictions.
Wide tax expertise geography
Baltic Assist's core expertise includes VAT registrations and compliance across the EU and the UK, VAT and Corporate Income Tax advisory, permanent and fixed establishment analysis, withholding tax, transfer pricing support, and general tax risk assessments.
“We also coordinate international tax projects for multi-country groups, acting as a central hub between local advisers, finance teams, and management, significantly reducing complexity for clients,” E. Dzekciorius said.
Most tax advisory and compliance services are delivered internally. Where local regulations require a local presence or registration, Baltic Assist cooperates with trusted local tax experts through established partnerships.
Importantly, Baltic Assist always remains the single point of contact, managing the process end-to-end – it has been doing so since its establishment in 2015.
“This approach allows us to deliver efficient, coordinated cross-border tax services while maintaining quality, consistency, and strong client relationships,” A. Rynkevic said, adding: “At Baltic Assist, we always strive to make our clients' lives easier.”
Where will tax services head in future?
“Tax services are moving rapidly toward real time reporting, e-invoicing, and technology driven compliance, supported by initiatives such as EU ViDA. This will increase transparency and risk for unprepared businesses,” E. Dzekciorius said.
“We actively monitor regulatory developments and test new compliance and ERP tools. While automation and AI tools work in general well for recurring VAT processes, professional judgment remains essential for advisory and complex tax matters, where we continue to invest heavily in expertise,” he adds.
“Close cooperation between accounting and tax teams ensures tax risks are identified early and resolved effectively. We are flexible, accessible, and internationally focused, offering integrated solutions that work in practice (not just on paper), making us a strong and reliable partner for cross border businesses,” E. Dzekciorius accentuated.
Who is the Ideal Team Player?
Although getting the right people on board has never been easy, the Vilnius-based company has developed some basic yet time-tested principles, both for managing its close-knit team and for hiring new employees.
“I would like to refer here to Patryk Cialdini's book, The Ideal Team Player – the description of the right colleague makes perfect sense to me and closely reflects Baltic Assist's hiring philosophy. It says that an ideal team player should have the following three attributes: low ego, a hunger for growth and achievement, and social smarts. Once you have a team consisting of the above-described ideal team players, you can aim for the moon!” Andzej Rynkevic, the Baltic Assist Founder, said.
Baltic Assist became a Certified B Corporation
Having become a Certified B Corporation in 2024, Baltic Assist continues to live up to that recognition every day.
“Becoming a Certified B Corporation means Baltic Assist has met rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency, as verified by B Lab. The certification evaluates a company across five areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers,” Edvinas Saviciunas, Head of Marketing at Baltic Assist, told The Baltic Times Magazine.
It signals to our clients and partners that when they work with Baltic Assist, they're choosing a company that measures success not just by revenue, but by the positive impact it creates.
“We see this as a journey, not a destination – the certification requires ongoing reassessment, which keeps us continually improving our practices,” E. Saviciunas accentuated.
