VILNIUS - Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys met Colombian Defence Minister Pedro Sanchez in Miami on Thursday to discuss strengthening transatlantic ties with Latin American countries.
According to a statement from Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting focused on cooperation to address shared security challenges, including international organised crime and the trafficking of synthetic drugs.
Budrys also outlined Lithuania’s experience in countering hybrid threats, resisting Chinese economic coercion, and provided an overview of the current security situation.
"Relations between Lithuania and Latin American countries are strong and based on shared values: support for international law, multilateralism, human rights, and democracy. Today's security challenges are no longer regional-they are fully transatlantic, and therefore our response to them must be integrated," Budrys said.
