RIGA - The partnership between Latvia and the United States is close and strong, Prime Minister Evika Silina (New Unity) said during a meeting with outgoing US Ambassador to Latvia Christopher Robinson, who was paying a farewell visit.
Thanks to active cooperation, Latvia's trade partnership with the US has increased by around 35 percent over the past two years. We will work to ensure that US investment in Latvia grows even faster and that our companies penetrate more into the US market, Silina said.
It was pointed out that the US is Latvia's strategic partner on security, defense and border strengthening issues. We particularly value the US military presence in Latvia and the close contacts with the US administration and Congress, the prime minister said.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the recent victory of the Latvian women's beach volleyball duo in the World Championship final against the US, the Latvia-US ice hockey match in the championship, as well as the international success of the Latvian animated film "Flow".
"Our partnership is close and strong," Silina said, thanking the ambassador for his contribution and friendship with Latvia.
Robinson has served as US Ambassador to Latvia since February 2023.
